FTEJerez has long enjoyed close relationships with a range of first tier airlines. It was this close understanding of airlines’ needs for quality trained young people that led us to create the first mentored scheme, some years back. We have expanded the number of airlines who see this practice as a sound way to recruit first officers over the years, and many other FTO’s have followed our initiative.
What is a mentored scheme? Basically it is a means for an airline to identify, select and mentor high quality young people through their ATPL training. Funding for the training must come from the individual student with the airline committing to a conditional guarantee of employment after successful completion of training. This guarantee takes different forms with each airline, and each airline provides its own conditions. Nevertheless, basically it reduces the employment risk for successful mentored students without going the full way to an unconditional job offer.
Most of the mentoring airlines will fund, on completion of the ATPL training, a Jet Orientation Course where the students will get familiarised with the airline’s operational procedures. This will be delivered by FTEJerez in our 737 NG simulator.
FTEJerez is proud to have conducted these schemes for Flybe, BA Cityflyer, Cityjet or Thomas Cook amongst others.
Further information of upcoming mentored schemes will be announced on our home page and social networks, with links to the scheme’s application process. If you are interested, join us on facebook or visit our web regularly.
