If you are considering a career as an Air Traffic Controller, your first step is to obtain the licence required to work in an ATC Tower. To this end, FTEJerez and FerroNATS have developed an intensive ATC course that has successfully graduated the next generation of Air Traffic Controllers.

The entire course content is in accordance with Eurocontrol's Common Core Content requirements. Over a period of 22 training weeks you will complete the BASIC training phase (theory) followed by the RATING training phase, delivered on our on-campus, state-of-the- art ATC simulator.

After completing the ATC Tower Course you will acquire the necessary knowledge, skills and operational capability in order to commence working in an air traffic control tower.

  • The first private basic training provider approved by Eurocontrol to apply FEAST selection testing.*

From the moment you commence your training, after a thorough evaluation process by FTEJerez and FerroNATS training managers, your progression will be constantly supervised by FerroNATS, a joint venture between Ferrovial Servicios, benchmark international company in management and operation of transport infrastructures, and NATS, the UK’s leading provider of air traffic services and solutions.

This mentorship will not only guarantee that your training will be up to the highest standards demanded by the industry, but will also give you significant exposure to one of Europe’s leading ANSP’s.

Due to this partnership, all students enrolling on the course and completing the course to an adequate standard will be included in the FerroNATS and FTEJerez Employment Exchange Programme.

There is no doubt that being mentored by FerroNATS throughout your training is a significant advantage when it comes to your future employment, however, many FTEJerez ATC graduates have been placed around the world, from Dublin to Dubai, with a number of leading ATC providers.

Once you graduate from FTEJerez you will receive personalised tuition towards your first placement in a control tower. Even though you will be mentored by FerroNATS, you may opt for other opportunities that will arise through FTE’s constant networking efforts.

FTE’s ATC Tower course includes:

  • All required training materials.
  • Full uniform.
  • AESA Student Controller Licence issue fees.
  • Accommodation on campus, including single occupancy bedroom, with en suite bathroom, air conditioning and internet connection.
  • Unlimited access to all facilities on campus.
  • Breakfast, lunch and dinner every day of the week throughout the whole course.

Approach & Area rating
for the qualified tower controller

FTE’s ATC Radar course (Approach and Area) offers additional training modules for qualified tower controllers. This course qualifies you in order to safely manage air traffic within a larger area and altitude and, as a result, over a period of 34 training weeks you will obtain the APP/APS (RAD-TCL) and ACP/ACS (RAD-TCL) endorsements.

This course is aimed at qualified tower controllers holding ADI+TWR+RAD endorsements, however, if you have no previous ATC training experience, FTE’s ATC Radar course (Approach and Area) can be integrated to your ab initio ATC Tower allowing you to go from 0 to fully rated ATC upon graduation.

Start date and course duration

The next course will commence 6th March 2017.
The course has a total duration of 34 training weeks.
