The aim of the IR (A) modular flying training course is to train pilots to the level of proficiency necessary to operate Multi-Engine Piston Airplanes (Land) under instrument flight rules and in instrument meteorological conditions.
Entry Requirements
Before commencing an IR (A) modular course an applicant shall:
- Be the holder of an EASA PPL (A) or CPL (A), either licence to include a night rating
- Be the holder of an EASA Multi-Engine Piston (MEP) Class Rating (A)
- Have passed the theoretical knowledge examination for IR (A) or ATPL (A)
If the examinations were completed under another EASA authority, accreditation from the UK CAA will need to be obtained before commencing the course.
- Hold an EASA Class 1 medical
- Be fluent in English
Course duration
Training programme
- For CPL (A) holders or people who have passed their CPL (A) skill test:
- 18 hours Piper Seneca III (including 2 hours for the IR (A) skill test)
- 34 hours Piper Seneca III based FNPT2 STD training
- Computer Based Training and required briefings
- For holders of a PPL (A) who have not passed the CPL (A) skill test:
- 18 hours Piper Seneca III (including 2 hours for the IR (A) skill test)
- 39 hours Piper Seneca III based FNPT2 STD training
- Computer Based Training and required briefings
All flying training is dual instruction.
Fees and payment
- For CPL (A) holders or people who have passed their CPL (A) skill test, the course fee is 16,500€
- For holders of a PPL (A) who have not passed the CPL (A) skill test, the course fee is 17,750€
CAA test and rating issue fees not included.
Single use en-suite accommodation on site and meals available at additional cost (330€ + VAT per person per week).
