Our commitment
At FTEJerez, placing students with an airline is a priority. We are proud to say that at the moment we are one of the few flight training organisations that recommends the majority of graduates to airlines that pay for the cadet’s type rating. This cameans a significant saving.
Our Career Development Service is based on the same principles that have positioned FTEJerez at the forefront of the training industry, guaranteeing an open and realistic approach in all communications with potential students and FTEJerez graduates. For example, we only consider a graduate’s status as ‘employed’ when he or she has a contract signed as a pilot; not with a placement pool, or with an organisation not related to aviation.
The department is not only there to assist students on completion of their course but goes much further, with career development modules throughout training. In this section of the website you will find an example of innovatively designed modules and workshops such as creating your personal development plan, CV and interview preparation techniques. There are also a variety of services available to students to keep current between graduation and employment, should that be necessary.
With our dedicated career development service, our commitment to students doesn’t end with the issuing of the ATPL Licence, but offers a truly personalised service thereafter.
Airline First Officer Development
At FTEJerez we train future captains, but our commitment doesn’t stop there. Once you start your career, you will have many days, weeks and years of flying ahead of you. Our philosophy is that airline pilots excel if they have received excellence in training and have the right attitude, but equally important, that they enjoy what they do.
Therefore, an important element of the FTEJerez Career Development Service is to discover what type of flying you enjoy the most and to prepare you as much as possible to find your dream job, whatever and wherever this may be.
The FTEJerez Career Orientation Programme consists of:
- Creation of your Personal Development Plan
- What can you do with your licence: ‘the world is your oyster’
- How to write a distinctive CV
- How to write an engaging cover letter
- Interview preparation
- Simulator assessment
- Which companies are recruiting – job opportunities
At FTEJerez life is not just about theory. The FTEJerez Career Development Centre consists of professionals with real life recruitment experience who will offer you interview practice, CV revision and group exercises -basically everything else you will need in order to pass any airline recruitment process.
Airline First Officer Preparation
The journey to becoming a professional airline pilot at FTEJerez is not just about flying. Straight from the first week of ground school, you will be put in the mindset of a pilot and will start thinking like an airline pilot. In addition to the ATPL training, you will also be given instruction in other key areas, not covered by the EASA syllabus. Through state-of-the-art training, aspects such as CRM, Assertiveness, Flight deck Management and Threat & Error Management will become second nature to you. It will not only help to start your airline career with flying colours, but offers a lifelong skill-set that is unique in the market and will make you stand out during your entire career.
Airline First Officer Threat and Error Management
Threat and Error Management (TEM), is the latest approach to reducing the human factor in aircraft incidents and accidents. Many people confuse TEM with what was once called ‘Airmanship’, but there is more to it. TEM actually takes Airmanship to the next level by providing a system and an overall framework to put Airmanship into practice. FTEJerez was the first UK CAA approved college to introduce the Multi-Pilot Licence (MPL) and as a spin off incorporated TEM into all ATPL training as well. After introducing Crew Resource Management (CRM) at the start of Ground School, FTEJerez introduces TEM in the first week of Phase 2; the Integrated ground and flying element of the course.
During your airline first officer course at FTEJerez you will become familiar with TEM as this is incorporated in every facet of our training from this point on, both in theory and practice.
By introducing you to TEM, which others will only get to practice once they are in an airline, you will have a framework that you will be able to use during your entire career as an airline pilot. As an FTEJerez graduate you are already ahead of the game!
Pilot Placement
At FTEJerez we understand that training to become a pilot goes hand in hand with a significant investment. Although no flight training organisation can guarantee a job after graduation, We are proud to say that at the moment we are one of the few flight training organisations that recommends the majority of graduates to airlines that pay for the student’s typerating. This means a significant saving.
