FTEJerez is delighted to announce the successful completion of its first Multi-Crew Pilot Licence (MPL) programme for Air Astana, marking a new milestone in the long-standing partnership between the academy and Kazakhstan’s flag carrier.

The six cadets began the Multi-Crew phase of their training on 19 May 2026, progressing through advanced multi-crew training before commencing their Airbus A320 Type Rating in Madrid. This final stage was delivered by FTEJerez and concluded on 15 September.

The course represents the first Air Astana MPL programme delivered by FTEJerez and follows more than a decade of collaboration between the two organisations, during which over 150 Air Astana cadets have trained in Jerez.

A key feature of the programme was the close integration of Air Astana’s operating procedures throughout the multi-crew phase. Ahead of this stage, FTEJerez and Air Astana jointly conducted online standardisation sessions for FTE’s Multi-Crew instructors, enabling the training team to incorporate airline-specific procedures into the programme. Cadets were also given access to the same applications and operational tools they will use at Air Astana, allowing them to become familiar with the airline’s working environment and procedures before joining the company.

Having now successfully completed their MPL training with FTEJerez, the cadets will continue their training with Air Astana. Following an initial phase of simulator training with the airline, they will progress to base training and subsequently complete their operator conversion course before beginning line operations.

The completion of this first MPL course represents a significant development in the relationship between FTEJerez and Air Astana and follows the recent renewal of the airlines’ training agreement with the academy.

Further groups of Air Astana MPL cadets are expected to follow as the renewed partnership continues.
